Slant

Last updated: 31 August 2026

This policy explains what information the app handles, where it is stored, and where third parties are involved.

The short version

Slant does not ask you to create an account, and does not collect your email address or contact list.

Your puzzle progress, saved runs, daily-challenge state and settings are stored locally on your own device. Two areas involve a third party: the leaderboard, and advertising. Both are described below.

Information stored on your device

The app saves the following to your device's local storage so it can keep your records and settings between sessions:

The leaderboard

The app shows a global daily leaderboard. It does not connect to Facebook or access your contacts.

A record is created for you on our servers the first time you do any of three things: open the leaderboard, solve a Daily Challenge, or solve a puzzle in normal play. Until one of those happens, nothing about you is sent to our servers.

At that point the app creates an anonymous identifier for your device using Firebase Authentication. This identifier is not linked to your Google account, email address, phone number or any other real-world identity, and we cannot use it to identify you as a person.

Stored against that anonymous identifier, using Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), are:

Your display name, scores and statistics are publicly readable by other players in the app. Please do not use a display name you would not want other players to see.

This data is processed by Google as our infrastructure provider and is stored on Google Cloud servers in the asia-south1 (Mumbai, India) region.

If you use Feedback in Settings, the app can pre-fill your message with device name, model, operating system and app version. That information reaches us only if you send the email, and you can edit it before sending.

Advertising

The app displays advertisements supplied by Google AdMob and, through AdMob mediation, other advertising networks such as Unity Ads, InMobi and Meta Audience Network. These include a banner ad and full-screen ads.

A full-screen ad may appear after you complete a puzzle, when you tap Check to validate your board, and when you tap New to start a fresh puzzle. Two placements are opt-in and marked in the game: watching an ad for an extra hint once your free hints are used, and watching one to reveal the solution. A hint or a reveal you asked for is granted whether or not the ad manages to load.

To serve ads, these networks may collect device-level information such as coarse location derived from your IP address, device model and operating system version, and on Android a resettable advertising identifier. This processing is carried out by the ad networks under their own privacy policies, not by us.

On iOS the app does not ask for permission to track you and never accesses the advertising identifier (IDFA). Ads on iOS are therefore non-personalised, and neither we nor the ad networks link your activity here to apps or websites owned by other companies.

On Android you can limit ad personalisation at any time through your device settings — "Reset advertising ID" and "Opt out of Ads Personalisation".

Permissions

The app requests internet access, which is used to load advertisements and, if you use it, the leaderboard. It does not ask for tracking permission on iOS. Choosing Rate us, Share or Feedback may open another app on your device. It does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, photos or precise location.

Children's privacy

The app is suitable for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The leaderboard stores only a self-chosen display name and gameplay statistics against an anonymous identifier, and never asks for a real name, age, email address or contact details. If you believe a child has entered identifying information as a display name, contact us and we will delete that record. If you believe a third-party ad network has collected data from a child, please contact both that network and us.

Deleting your data

Leaderboard data. To request removal of your display name, score, streaks and solve history from our servers, email info@venusapps.com. Because the identifier is anonymous, include your display name and any details that help us locate your record. We will delete it as soon as we can.

Local data. Clearing the app's storage in your device settings, or uninstalling the app, erases local puzzle progress, daily-challenge state, and settings toggles. This is immediate and irreversible.

Note that uninstalling the app does not by itself delete your leaderboard record. Email info@venusapps.com before uninstalling if you want it removed — because the identifier is anonymous, we cannot locate your record for you after the app is gone.

Changes to this policy

If the way the app handles data changes, this policy will be updated and the "last updated" date at the top will change. Significant changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
